The Visionary Behind the Mission
The Journey of Mrs. R.K. Usha
At the heart of Vikas Vishranti is Mrs. R.K. Usha. After a distinguished 30-year career in the tourism industry—where she played a pivotal role in establishing the iconic Dilli Haat—she chose a path of service over a quiet retirement.
In 2002, Mrs. Usha transitioned from the corporate world to the courtroom, practicing law in Greater Noida. This experience exposed her to the harsh vulnerabilities of society, from juvenile struggles to the complexities of the legal system. Deeply moved, she realized that “nameless, ordinary citizens” held the power to create extraordinary change.
In 2011, she gathered 11 children on a roadside to begin what is now Apna School. By 2013, the Vikas Vishranti Charitable Trust was officially registered, growing from a single roadside class into a multi-faceted support system for the young and the elderly alike.
